💡 Today's Wisdom
"The dragon appears in the field" — the yang at the 2nd line of *Qián* — marks the first moment of visible emergence. The dragon has left the depths and now stands on open ground, where others can see it. *Jiàn lóng zài tián* signals that conditions for showing yourself have arrived, but the sky is still out of reach. The *Xiàng* commentary adds *dé shī pǔ yě* — virtue spreads widely — making clear that this appearance carries weight only when grounded in genuine ability, not performance. "Favorable to see the great person" points directly at the most valuable move: seek out someone with both character and standing who can offer real guidance. Many people hit this stage after finishing a first substantial project, speaking at an industry event for the first time, or stepping from executor to team lead. The two failure modes are mirror images of each other. Some stay invisible too long, letting real opportunities pass out of misplaced modesty. Others rush the moment — pitching investors before the product logic holds, or claiming authority before the team is ready to follow. Both miss what the line is actually saying. Identify one mentor or senior you genuinely respect. Reach out this week with a specific question, not a résumé. The posture is curiosity, not self-promotion.
🎯 Action Advice
Map your current core strengths, then contact one person you respect — a mentor or senior — and ask a specific, honest question rather than looking for validation.
🔍 Today's Blind Spot
Though Nine in the second has emerged from hiding, it remains in the 'field,' not yet in the 'sky.' Do not let early recognition tempt you into expanding your influence prematurely. At this stage, restlessness and overreach are the real dangers — overexposure before a solid foundation is built tends to backfire.
⚠️ Peak Leads to Decline
Going with the flow is good, but beware of peaking too soon. Stay humble and don't lose yourself in momentary success.
